Nutrition panel

A nutrition panel from HealthCheckUSA is a great way to understand how your body uses the food you eat. In many instances, medical conditions can be treated simply by eating better. Our nutrition panel is a simple blood test that you take at the preselected lab of your choice. To get the best results on your nutrition panel, do not eat or drink for 10 hours before the test. Water and black coffee are okay. A doctor or nutritionist can help you interpret your panel and formulate a plan for healthy eating.

Our nutrition panel consists of three parts:

CHEM-26

This part of our nutrition panel is also knows as our "super chemistry" test. This checks your total cholesterol (HDL & HDL), triglycerides, glucose, calcium, uric acid, electrolyte and iron. Additionally, this nutritional panel checks kidney, heart and liver functions. If your cholesterol and triglycerides are too high on your nutrition panel, your doctor will recommend proper diet changes and possible medications. Glucose levels are important to monitor if you're concerned about diabetes or how your body processes sugar. The iron levels on your nutrition panel will measure how much iron is in the blood stream. Too much iron on your nutrition panel can be a sign of a serious genetic disorder.

Vitamin B12 with Folic Acid

The B family of vitamins are used by the body to release energy stored in food components like carbs, fat and protein. Consider getting a nutrition panel to make sure that your body is generating enough energy to power all the organs. If your nutrition panel shows low amount of B12, you're at high risk for organ damage.

Folic acid is part of the B vitamin family. It helps synthesize DNA that used in new cell formation and helps convert B12 into a functioning element within the body. Most Americans don't get enough folic acid, so consider getting a nutrition panel to make sure you're getting enough. Folic acid also helps lower homocysteine levels, which can cause damage to the heart. Lack of folic acid can impair protein synthesis and cell division. Long term use of aspirins and antacids can cause low folic acid levels. Our nutrition panel will give a thorough analysis of your body's metabolic functions.

TIBC

Our nutrition panel also checks TIBC, or total iron binding capacity. This measures how efficiently your blood transports iron through the rest of your body. TIBC levels can drop when you don't get enough protein, so your doctor may recommend this test as part of any nutrition panel. Elevated levels of TIBC could mean that you have an iron deficiency and should eat more iron-rich foods like green vegetables.

What to do if your nutritional panel has abnormal results

If your nutrition panel has any abnormal results, take them to your doctor. They might order additional tests or another nutrition panel to double check the results. Diet and lifestyle changes will be recommended, and you should consider another nutrition panel in the near future to measure any progress.
